I am a Professor of Public Policy at the Crawford School at  The Australian National University.  I am the Crawford School's Director of Gender Equity and Diversity.  I head the Children’s Policy Centre and the Poverty and Inequality Research Centre.

I am a researcher, educator and social commentator working in the areas of social justice, human rights, and equality.  My work is interdisciplinary and focuses on the ways in which social policy can better serve those on whose behalf policy is made - particularly groups and individuals who are at the margins of society. 

 

I have undertaken research across a number of geographic regions, including Australia, Southeast Asia (particularly Indonesia and the Philippines), the Pacific (particularly Fiji) and Southern Africa, and have worked with government, non-government and international agencies in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
